Each year, the Martin Luther King Community Coalition sponsors a district wide Essay and Art Contest. Students are asked to respond to and interpret the annual theme through words and art. Hundreds of entries are submitted and judged. Essay finalists and art winners are selected. Students read their essays publicly and display their art at a winter Student Reading and Art Display. The placing of the essay finalists are announced at the annual Martin Luther King Holiday Celebration.
